BREEAM Excellent for redevelopment

Cairn Real Estate and Kadans Vastgoed have signed a new, long-term agreement with DirectPay for the lease of 2,650 m² of office space and associated parking spaces at Blaak16 in Rotterdam. DirectPay, which will move into the building by 1 November 2017 at the latest, has opted for Blaak16 because of its strategic, central location in the heart of Rotterdam city centre and business district, the high quality of the building and the large, freely divisible work floors (approx. 1,500 m²). In addition, the design of the interior will be further tuned to the needs of the new tenant. Pieter Akkerman, Managing Director of Cairn Real Estate: “The redevelopment of Blaak 16 is a good example of our shared vision to implement the restructuring of the Dutch office market in an ambitious and innovative way. The design of Blaak 16 has received the BREEAM certification ‘Excellent’ and will have the Energy label A after completion. We are proud to be able to redevelop an iconic building like Blaak16 together with our partners into a modern, sustainable and multifunctional office building that will also be retained for the future as a landmark building”. Marcel van Toer, CIO DirectPay: “Due to the strong growth of our credit management activities, we started looking for a location more than a year ago to further realise this growth. Important aspects during the selection were excellent accessibility, flexibility, appearance and quality, both for our customers and our employees. These aspects are beautifully united on Blaak16. In addition, the transparency of the building allows us to have a very to create an inspiring working environment in which everyone can develop optimally”. Cairn Real Estate acquired the office building together with Kadans Vastgoed and a consortium of investors. Impact Vastgoed is responsible for the realization of the project and the rebuilding will be carried out by Dura Vermeer and Hendriks Bouw en Ontwikkeling. Completion will take place in the summer of 2017. DirectPay was advised on the transaction by CBRE, which also received the assignment for the project management of the interior. BRIQ real estate assisted the landlord. Discussions are currently taking place with various users for the remaining area of approx. 11,350 m² office space.
