The leading global sea container transport company Ocean Network Express (ONE) has signed a new, long-term agreement with Cairn Real Estate for the lease of over 3,000 m² and 32 associated parking spaces at Blaak16 in Rotterdam. ONE, which has its operational headquarters in Singapore, will operate from Blaak with its Dutch organization.
Blaak16 was recently completed and is a complete renovation of the highest quality. The use of high-quality materials in combination with various structural modifications and sustainability measures has resulted in a completely new building at one of the most distinctive locations in the city centre of Rotterdam.
Management ONE, the Netherlands: “The Blaak16 location meets the high standards we set as market leader in our sector. The building is excellently located in the heart of Rotterdam’s city centre and business district, and yet very easily accessible. The quality of the new building is high and offers an attractive and dynamic working environment for our employees and customers”.
Pieter Akkerman, Managing Director of Cairn Real Estate: “The great appeal of Blaak16 after the redevelopment is undeniable. At the moment, approximately 75% of the building has been let and talks are being held with various prospects about the remaining space. We are proud to have redeveloped an iconic building like Blaak16 with our partners into a modern, sustainable and multifunctional office building that will also be retained as a landmark building in the future”.
Cairn Real Estate acquired the office building together with Kadans Vastgoed and a consortium of investors. Impact Vastgoed was responsible for the realization of the project and the reconstruction was carried out by Dura Vermeer and Hendriks Bouw en Ontwikkeling. Completion took place in the summer of 2017.
CBRE concluded the transaction with ONE on behalf of the lessor. On behalf of the landlord, CBRE and BRiQ are in charge of the letting of the building. ONE was assisted in the transaction by Cushman & Wakefield.
